Solo show “An Eye for an Eye”
We had never had silence like this at Bombik. Actor Pavlo Osikov outdid himself, and when the show ended it took the audience several seconds to come back to themselves. It was incredible.

What the play is about
“An Eye for an Eye” is a monologue. The actor speaks to an imagined occupier and asks him “Why?”. He tells the stories of Ukrainians who lived through occupation and lost people close to them, and he shows photographs of destroyed homes. It is the third part of the identity monologues from the AVE one-man theatre and the first time Pavlo has taken on the war, krivbass.city reports. The first part, “And Where Am I?”, had already played at Bombik.
How people reacted
Some came up to Pavlo and asked for a hug. Some stayed where they were, taking it in. Some were wiping away tears. It’s a play that makes you stop and think about what life is during a war.
The crew from the T-fishing channel was at Bombik that night too. In their video “We Make Theatre Out of Bomb Shelters” (in Ukrainian) the founders talk about how it all started.
Thanks and donations
Thanks to Pavlo Osikov for the show, to our colleague Svitlana Ostapchuk for the fragrant tea and for making the place cosy, to Oleksandr Tovstukha for logistics and technical help and, of course, to the audience, who sat through all of it and then helped the army too.
We hit another record: UAH 2,410, all of it for the army’s needs.
